YEAH!!!! It's Spring.

This is such a beautiful time of year. We say goodbye and farewell to winter, and welcome spring with open arms, a fresh attitude, and a wish for brighter, funkier colours. The weather is warming up a little each day, and getting out the door seems to take a little less time.
In terms of babies, here at Stitchedwithlove.com, we have lots of spring options.
In our bathtime categories, we feature lots of spring-inspired patterns. And now that (thankfully) it is not as cold as mid-winter, the famous baby-bundle pouch has lots of options to make it usable for a long time to come. We can put a corduroy exteriour, trim the stuffing to make it lighter, and keep the flannel or switch to printed cotton (very much like the sheets we sleep on). We can also put a polar-fleece exterior with or without stuffing and again, either flannel inside or printed cotton. Depending on where you live and your preferences, there are lots of options designed to keep your baby in a perfect combination which will keep him or her just right. Not too hot, and not too cold.
In this season, layering is the best thing to do. You can keep baby in his/her indoor wear, put him in the pouch, and if it is a colder day, just tuck a blanket around him or her. Perfectly versatile.

While we are on the topic, now that the weather is getting warmer, more and more parents are taking their babies and young kids to the pool. What could be better when getting out of the pool than a thick and absorbant bathrobe/bathtowel/hooded towel? Perhaps a thick and absorbant bathrobe/bathtowel/hooded towel with machine stitched personalization?

Enjoy Spring! Get out there and get motivated by the season known as the awakening one.

UNIQUE SUPER HEROES !!!

I got a call from a client who wanted something she couldn't find anywhere, something so custom and unique, it would have to be created for her. She wanted to buy gifts for two 5 year old boys (Dov and Evan) who were seriously into superheroes. She did not just want to buy a premade costume, she wanted to create a costume incorporating each boy's name. We at first spoke about sewing up a shirt with a detachable cape. I told her it would be easier, smarter, and more cost effective to buy a shirt, and I would colour coordinate a cape. Then we thought that we would buy a pre-made pyjama, and go from there. I told her I would take care of getting the boys some pyjamas, a task I thought would be super easy. Turns out it was not! After we put our heads together, we decided to buy a shirt with a matching sweat pant and go from that point.
Once the outfits were bought, I went to my local fabric store to see what I could find to make a funky, fun cape. I found the perfect fabric. I decided to have Super Dov embroidered on one shirt, and Evan Man on the other. I thought having a 3 inch D on one cape and a 3 inch E on the other would be a great addition.
When everything came back embroidered, the items were nice, but missing some punch. I decided to get some fabric sparkle paint and embellish and enhance. I then looked at super hero pictures, and noticed they all had a head covering and wrist-guards or gloves. Being a sewer, off we went to the design and sewing room. At the end of the day, each boy had a shirt with a custom shield, a specialized cape, along with a hood of sorts and gloves. According to my client, there are now two extremely happy 5 year old boy superheroes on the loose. It is a bird......No it is a plane......no, it is something unique created by Stitched with love!

Special Custom Orders

A special package for a special baby!
A long-time client, let's call her Elly, wanted something she did not see on the website. So she called, and we brainstormed. Besides wanting something personalized in her gift, she wanted a super cozy, thick and unique blanket with a quilted feel to it. Knowing all of my fabrics in combination with the colours Elly wanted (green gingham), I suggest the patchwork gingham with an added layer between the top and bottom layers. The layers would be stitched throughout, giving this nice thick flannel blanket (with a polar fleece insert) a thick, warm and cozy feel. The blanket can be seen under the towel, bib and burp pad. It was shipped out, wrapped and ready (see picture on top). We hope Daniella is finding her custom package as special as it was unique to create it!!

And here we go!!

I want to thank all of you who took the time to check out the new site, and to forward your comments. With the exception of a couple of technical issues, everyone was very encouraging and positive with respect to stitchedwithlove.com

My first 3 clients who ordered since we went live were Andrea Weinstein, Neesa Harroche, and Lauren Selcer. Funny enough, we are all connected through Camp B'Nai Brith of Montreal.
So you guys, thanks for ordering from us instead of going to the store. I would love to know how your gifts were received.

Lots more orders have come in, and I am thankful and really happy. Ok, proud as well. I am going to add a couple of pictures to the next blog- special orders of items you would not find on the site. This is an additional service we can offer: Creating something based on an idea which cannot be found in stores. The possibilities are exciting.

Keep warm, keep reading and checking- pictures of collaborative products will be going up soon.
