It is similar in the way that you hope that once the baby comes, life will be different, in a good way of course, and that you have left some of the harder parts behind. I personally looked very forward to our new baby arriving (for each of our 3 kids). And in a sense, it is leaving the old behind and in with the new.

I feel a bit like that now. I am fed up of winter, the way I was fed up of having so much weight in the center of my body. I look forward to cold being over, snow melting, seeing spring flowers and grass, and buds on branches turning green. It is rebirth, and so I guess that is why it reminds me of the feeling just prior to baby's due date.

Although March can be tricky, some warmer days, possible snow storms, make sure to carry an extra blanket in the diaiper bag in case of sudden cold for baby, and remember this general rule: Dress baby similarly to how you dress yourself when going out. In otherwords, if you don't need a full winter coat, the baby won't either.

Lots of items on the site to help you with in between seasons. Spring baby? The perfect pouch is an combination pouch. Not too hot, not too light.

Enjoy!

Autmn is here again! Think of it as a cross between a snowsuit and a sleeping bag made for the car seat (any model).100% warm, 100% easy to use and install, 100% machine washable, this pouch features polyfill (the same warm insulator used in all baby and kids's snowsuits), and your choice of corduroy or polar fleece exterior and 100% cotton flannelette inerior, with an option of a
matching blanket. Play around with colours and prints to make yours truly you.

The Stitchedwithlove Blanket Sleeper

(http://www.stitchedwithlove.com/blanketsleeper.html)
Blanket vs. Blanket Sleeper:
This is a wonderful product. With the blanket in the bed
controversy, the SWL Blanket Sleeper is recommended by pediatricians. This is worn over the pyjama, so as an added bonus, there is no kicking off the blankets when baby gets warm, only to wake up when cold. Available in many different weights and fabrics.
Word to the wise: if you did not start your baby in a blanket sleeper when s/he was a young bay, they will not like this at all. If they are used to sleeping with a blanket and having the freedom to kick around when covered with a blanket, do not start with this product now. It will only lead to frustration.....

The Stitchedwithlove Combination Blanket: (http://www.stitchedwithlove.com/products/blankets/combination.html ).

This blanket is a double layered construction. One layer is polar fleece, the other is 100% cotton flannelette. This is by far our most popular blanket, and is ideal indoors, in the car, or in the stroller as a stroller blanket. It can be made even more special by embroidering name/date/character.

Cold after the bath?

Products to recommend:

The Bath Bundler-

for really young babies;

(http://www.stitchedwithlove.com/products/bathtime/bath_bundler.html);

Or the Guilda Bathrobe for 12-24months plus
(http://www.stitchedwithlove.com/products/bathtime/guilda_bathrobe.html);

And for another after bath option: The SWL Hooded Kids Towel

(http://www.stitchedwithlove.com/products/bathtime/kid_towel.html).

Also, a fun towel item in any weather, is the Laurie Bath Apron

http://www.stitchedwithlove.com/products/bathtime/laurie_bath_apron.html

oducts/bathtime/laurie_bath_apron.html.......

Check them all out! To be more precise, it has been 10 months, 2 weeks, and one day. So what has happened in that year?? Well, I got older (no kidding!), my kids grew so much, it actually makes my cry, and as of mid January, we can now go completely crazy with embroidery. We can embroider anything: name, picture, logo, onto just about anything. The sky is the limit. You don't have to limit yourself to items from the website. One of our regular clients, Carrie, brought over three plush adult sized towels. On each, we embroidered the child's favorite hockey team logo along with his name. Great gift idea. We can also do pillows for a girl or boys room, great for when you are going from toddler to child's room.
Outside of that, this year has been a study for complete overhaul and organization. Lesson learned, get rid of stuff you are no longer using as quickly as possible, otherwise the work is HUGE to create order out of chaos.

Looking forward to spring in a month and a bit.......keep posted.
Laurence

Jennifer Benedik's Wishlist for her Baby Shower:

This is straight from her wishlist. It's Spring.

This is such a beautiful time of year. We say goodbye and farewell to winter, and welcome spring with open arms, a fresh attitude, and a wish for brighter, funkier colours. The weather is warming up a little each day, and getting out the door seems to take a little less time.
In terms of babies, here at Stitchedwithlove.com, we have lots of spring options.
In our bathtime categories, we feature lots of spring-inspired patterns. And now that (thankfully) it is not as cold as mid-winter, the famous baby-bundle pouch has lots of options to make it usable for a long time to come. We can put a corduroy exteriour, trim the stuffing to make it lighter, and keep the flannel or switch to printed cotton (very much like the sheets we sleep on). We can also put a polar-fleece exterior with or without stuffing and again, either flannel inside or printed cotton. Depending on where you live and your preferences, there are lots of options designed to keep your baby in a perfect combination which will keep him or her just right. Not too hot, and not too cold.
In this season, layering is the best thing to do. You can keep baby in his/her indoor wear, put him in the pouch, and if it is a colder day, just tuck a blanket around him or her. Perfectly versatile.

While we are on the topic, now that the weather is getting warmer, more and more parents are taking their babies and young kids to the pool. What could be better when getting out of the pool than a thick and absorbant bathrobe/bathtowel/hooded towel? Perhaps a thick and absorbant bathrobe/bathtowel/hooded towel with machine stitched personalization?

Enjoy Spring! Get out there and get motivated by the season known as the awakening one.
Laurence

We are a featured article!

Thanks to Eveline, who sent the link to our website with her friend Marcella. She wanted to buy gifts for two 5 year old boys (Dov and Evan) who were seriously into superheroes. She did not just want to buy a premade costume, she wanted to create a costume incorporating each boy's name. We at first spoke about sewing up a shirt with a detachable cape. I told her it would be easier, smarter, and more cost effective to buy a shirt, and I would colour coordinate a cape. Then we thought that we would buy a pre-made pyjama, and go from there. I told her I would take care of getting the boys some pyjamas, a task I thought would be super easy. Turns out it was not! After we put our heads together, we decided to buy a shirt with a matching sweat pant and go from that point.

Once the outfits were bought, I went to my local fabric store to see what I could find to make a funky, fun cape. I found the perfect fabric. I decided to have Super Dov embroidered on one shirt, and Evan Man on the other. I thought having a 3 inch D on one cape and a 3 inch E on the other would be a great addition.
When everything came back embroidered, the items were nice, but missing some punch. I decided to get some fabric sparkle paint and embellish and enhance. I then looked at super hero pictures, and noticed they all had a head covering and wrist-guards or gloves. Being a sewer, off we went to the design and sewing room. At the end of the day, each boy had a shirt with a custom shield, a specialized cape, along with a hood of sorts and gloves. According to my client, there are now two extremely happy 5 year old boy superheroes on the loose. It is a bird......No it is a plane......no, it is something unique created by Stitched with love!

Special Custom Orders

A special package for a special baby!

A long-time client, let's call her Elly, wanted something she did not see on the website. So she called, and we brainstormed. Besides wanting something personalized in her gift, she wanted a super cozy, thick and unique blanket with a quilted feel to it. Knowing all of my fabrics in combination with the colours Elly wanted (green gingham), I suggest the patchwork gingham with an added layer between the top and bottom layers. The layers would be stitched throughout, giving this nice thick flannel blanket (with a polar fleece insert) a thick, warm and cozy feel. The blanket can be seen under the towel, bib and burp pad. It was shipped out, wrapped and ready (see picture on top). We hope Daniella is finding her custom package as special as it was unique to create it!!

And here we go!!

I want to thank all of you who took the time to check out the new site, and to forward your comments. With the exception of a couple of technical issues, everyone was very encouraging and positive with respect to stitchedwithlove.com

My first 3 clients who ordered since we went live were Andrea Weinstein, Neesa Harroche, and Lauren Selcer. Funny enough, we are all connected through Camp B'Nai Brith of Montreal.
So you guys, thanks for ordering from us instead of going to the store. I would love to know how your gifts were received.

Lots more orders have come in, and I am thankful and really happy. Ok, proud as well. I am going to add a couple of pictures to the next blog- special orders of items you would not find on the site. This is an additional service we can offer: Creating something based on an idea which cannot be found in stores. The possibilities are exciting.

Keep warm, keep reading and checking- pictures of collaborative products will be going up soon.

Laurence

New Website, New Look, New Name!

Welcome to new and to previous clients (who knew us as Baby-Bundle.com).

We are starting the new year with lots of changes.
